Global Energy Recovery Systems (GERS, LLC) is proud to present Mr. Tommy Crosby as our Chief Business Development Officer.
Mr. Crosby has more than 27 years’ experience in the marine industry with responsibilities ranging from inland barge traffic to offshore logistics operations, including oceangoing tug-and-barge units, offshore supply vessels (OSV’s), and oil spill and pollution response equipment. He has an Associate Degree in Pipe Design from West Jefferson Technical College and attended the University of New Orleans Business College.
Mr. Crosby’s industry experiences began in his family-owned towing company. Formed in the 1950’s, Crosby Marine Service provided him with invaluable experience such as radio dispatch, operations, business development, human resources, and maintenance in his early career. He has since served a number of other companies in the Louisiana maritime community. As a result of his broad experience, Mr. Crosby has built an expansive network in the maritime community, having represented his various employers in such professional associations as American Waterways Operators, the National Ocean Industries Association, the Offshore Marine Service Association, and the Greater New Orleans Barge Fleeting Association. He has also served as Chair for several maritime conferences, including the International Work Boat Show and the Offshore Technical Conference, among others.
Mr. Crosby also served with distinction during the response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster in 2010, acting as the Marine Spill Response Corporation’s representative in the Incident Command Post in Venice, LA. In that role, he collaborated with many different vessel owners, operators, and governmental regulatory agencies to address critical considerations as a part of the response effort. He was also responsible for increasing the master service agreements for his then-employer, Crowley Maritime, by 900% and secured the acquisition of new equipment for Odyssea Marine for the response effort. Since then, he has been instrumental in the development of barge fleeting areas along the Mississippi River Basin and managing the logistical challenges and business opportunities of the inland waterways along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
